I’ve been dying to drive up to Idaho City since school started this year, and Friday I finally got the opportunity! My parents came up for the past weekend for their Anniversary, so I ditched class that day and we headed up to Idaho City bright and early.
It took about an hour to drive their, but the scenery was so pretty that it went by fast! Idaho City totally has an old ghost town feel, but there’s a couple “newer” buildings with places to eat and shop around!
Our first stop was to the Pioneer Cemetery. Kind of creepy, but it was really interesting! They have a walking tour guide when you enter, that you can read about some of the stories of the people buried there.
Then we drove the rest of the way through town, and headed up towards the Summit, going towards Plasterville. This was about 10 miles away, but was very worth it! We got some very pretty photos as you’ll see down below!
Once we got back down the mountain, we headed to lunch at Trudy’s Kitchen, which was so good! My mom and I split the Prime Rib finger steaks, but they were so yummy I could have probably eaten them all. It was such a homey, rustic little restaurant, I strongly recommend eating there if you visit!
Finally we stopped and grabbed some huckleberry ice cream at Sarsaparilla’s, and then headed back to Boise! Idaho City was so fun, and I’m already trying to figure out when I can go back!
Thanks for reading! See you next time.
