Our first day trip as an entire group was to Annecy the Sunday after we arrived in Lyon. I had done a little research before we left, and it looked like a beautiful, classic French city. They also had mentioned we would be able to do a little swimming, so I was very excited to say the least. We had to be at the bus super early that morning, so I woke up around 6 AM and threw on a new dress and neck scarf I had picked up at Zara in Paris. It is always a lot easier to get around in the morning when you get to wear a new outfit!
Two hours later we arrived in Annecy, and it was absolutely breathtaking! The colorful old buildings were what fairytales were made of, and I couldn’t wait to explore. We started the tour by walking through the farmers market they had going on, and then toured the chateau and the old jail as well. Afterwords we had the afternoon to ourselves to explore and eat, of course! We ate a quick bike at a little sandwich shop, and then we were off in search of the beach.
It took us a few tries to find it, but once we did we were so hot we jumped right in. The water was freezing, but it was so beautiful I didn’t mind. It was the clearest water I had ever swam in. I remember floating in the water with these beautiful mountains in the background, and it was like a dream! After swimming we got some ice cream of course, and I tried the coconut which was so good.
Annecy is definitely one of my top favorite cities that I visited while here. I have to return one day!
